Creative Fun

Well Saturday was a full day of creative FUN @ two local scrapbooking stores for a friend and I.

We had both signed up for a FREE card making class during a grand reopening for a new location of one of the shops.  Then we later discovered a shop just around the corner was offering hour long classes the same day so decided to make a day of it and sign up for a bunch.

We started the day @ one class and made stenciled tags:

Second we hopped over to the shop for an hour spent putting together some simple kit cards:

I still have a HUGE package of pre-scored cards, envelopes, printed chipboard die cuts, colored printed punch out embellishment pieces, package of rub-ons & more.

This is just a sampling of what I have left:

Back to the first shop of the day we started our third workshop we played with resist techniques:

The final workshop was making a variety of paper flowers:

This was a full day of activities and when I got home I was like a kid who was over stimulated and overtired.  Not much good for anything else but kick'n back and relaxing to rewind and feel back to normal.

Now the morning after I am rewound LOL...and reflecting on what techniques I will work with as I write this post to share pics of my finished techniques and card samples.  : )

GUEST DESIGNER MARIA & HER SU OWL PUNCH CARDS

I am so
HAPPY
to bring back
GUEST DESIGNER
MARIA
and another one of her
SU OWL PUNCH Cards
for ALL of YOU who treasure her SWEET creations.

MARIA
is so clever and inventive with her
SU OWL PUNCH.

I challenged her last year just before Christmas to come up with a PEACOCK using her SU OWL PUNCH and ' BOY DID SHE DELIVER.' That was the first card she showcased here on my blog last month.

This month she brings yet another SWEET card to US. . .

Please enjoy her PICS and HOW she did it!

YOU will be motivated to make one too!

* If  YOU want to share a pic with us of one you made,  just leave me a comment with your email
(I don't publish comments with emails attatched) and I will arrange with you to add your pic/s following this very post.

I can't think of a better compliment that would be to our Guest Designer. : )

ENJOY!...

Dear Friends of Cathie's Sweet Spot,

Thank you for your positive response on my last post about the 'PEACOWL'.

I´m looking forward to share more SU Owl-punch animals during the next months with you :)

Today´s special animal was invented by myself again, and I was very proud as I finished this Owl-punch Giraffe (feel free to suggest a better name.)

I made this giraffe out of yellow cardstock and punched out the head, horns, eyes and nostrils, body, feet and tail with my SU Owl-punch.

The legs were long strips of yellow cardstock and all body parts have been colored with the giraffe pattern by using my sponge dauber, brown ink and a little piece my sewing thread was on. (The holes on it were perfect to shape-ink all the dots on the giraffe).

All parts were also distressed on their edges with brown ink using my dauber.

The little hat was a cut-piece from a stash of Christmas paper I bought at the craft fair last year.

As final touch, the giraffe got a scarf made of blue fluffy ribbon my friend Christi sent me.

To keep the winter theme of the card,
I punched a few snowflakes out of embossed vellum paper and put a self adhesive pearl in the middle of each.

The sentiment I used is from Lili of the Valley and it just fit the card.

Thank you Cathie for this very great opportunity to show my creations on your amazing Blog :)

I hope you all like this creation and please don´t hestitate to comment.

Have a crafty day!!!  : )

GRAPHIC 45 MINI ALBUM

Here is a mini album I made using one 12 x 12" sheet of Graphic 45 paper and three standard business size envelopes.
I LOVE how this turned out!

It's really quite simple. Here is a top view showing the construction. I will give step by step details on how to make one in a future posting. :)

The difficult part is cutting into the FAB paper which I only have a few sheets left of now. LOL Then to cut up in a way that you utilize the best bits for focal points.

The paper is double sided, so the pieces that didn't have enough of a good focal point left on them were turned over to use the coordinating colors. This is a good place to mount a pic or a sentiment, quote, journaling or ?

As you can see from the pics there are some 4 page, 3 page and 2 page spreads using this envelope design. You can just keep turning it over and flipping pages so it's like an never ending album.

I folded up the album and wrapped in an elastic lace that reminds me of the wraps some of these bathing beauties are wearing on their heads to keep the sand and water off their gorgeous locks.

I made a stick pin with a corsage pin, vintage sea shell bead and a tiny blue pearl bead. I stitched on a gorgeous natural blue & cream mother of pearl broken shell bead to the elastic wrap to finish.

I didn't adorn the album much because I thought whoever recieves it might want to have fun adding little treasures of their own. I did add some bling that looks like a wave in the form of rhinestones.

I also added a teeny tiny blue trim to the bottom of one of the pages because the paper cut was just a little bit shy of the edge. Worked perfectly and it kinda looks like little waves too.

Each page top has an opening to slide in a tag for mounting more pics or adding even more quotes, sentiments, journaling etc.

Now I have to make one for me! LOL

Isn't that the way it is...you make something for a gift and you never keep anything for yourself?! : )

Must get into the habit of making doubles.

I would love to hear your comments on my album.

Printable Button Card

This is a button card I designed for YOU.

It has a clear background so only the header image, fine line border and print at the bottom of the card will print.

Use white, cream, parchment cardstock to print out your button cards.

You can print four to a 8 1/2 11" sheet of paper for a handmade card size, or print more to a page for smaller versions to add to a handmade card as an embellishment.

Personal use only.

Do not share, with the exception of a direct link.  Please feel free to share a direct link for others to recieve their own copy.

Please also leave a comment as this helps me to know how many are enjoying my PRINTABLES and if I should continue to provide these services.  I appreciate your kind comments.

All donations no matter how small are also greatly appreciated and show me you value my time creating these crafty goodies for YOU : )

GUEST DESIGNER - MARIA & her SU OWL punch animals

Hello Friends and Followers of  Cathie´s Sweet Spot.

I felt very flattered and touched as Cathie asked me to be a Guest-Designer on her blog to show you all Owl-punch-animals that I did.  I made all these animals using my Stampin UP Owl-punch.

So here is the first animal I want to share with you.

Say hello to the Peac-owl

(AKA Peacock-OWL)

This animal was specially created for Cathie in first place to put on her Christmas tree.

  1. The body for the peacowl was punched with the Owl-punch and then I snipped off the feet and ears of the owl, to get the round body for the peacowl.
  2. As the next step I punched a pair of yellow feet, inked them with red ink and glued them behind the body of the peacowl.
  3. A punched heart is the beak of the peakowl.
  4. I layered the punched eyes ( all punched with the OWL-Punch) over it.
  5. Last part for the body was to use one of the snipped-off-feet as hair for the peacowl.
  6. I used a gold-gel marker to decorate it.
  7. The feathers were made after I watched a tutorial for a Thanksgiving table setting by Kim Burmeister (one of my crafting-idols). Therefore, you use a scallop circle and fold it like its shown on the video and you get pretty feathers. I made these using a dark-blue patterned paper and then adhered the "feathers" onto the back of the body.
  8. The last step was to decorate the feathers with rhinestones in blue and green for the peacock-eye effect.

I hope you all like this creation.

Have a crafty day!!!

FRIENDSHIP PAGES

These are FRIENDSHIP PAGES I made my SWAP PARTNER in IRELAND back in OCTOBER.  Somehow it got saved as a draft probably because I was waiting until my partner recieved them.  Didn't want to spoil the surprise in case she seen them here.  So they were just sitting there in draft when I noticed them tonight.
This was my first time making friendship pages.  They are 6 x 6" double sided (side by side) pages (so a total of 4 pages).

The challenge for the friendship pages being the month of OCTOBER was to incorporate pink for the theme BREAST CANCER AWARENESS month.  So the pages had to be pink & support the cause in some way by making a purchase of ribbon or something that can be incorporated into the pages.

I USED SOFT PINK COLORED & PATTERNED PAPERS THAT REFLECTED THE COLORS USED IN THE
THINK PINK CAMPAIGN
FOR THE FIRST TWO SIDE BY SIDE PAGES.

THE WHITE SCALLOP TAG WITH THE DAZZLING PINK BLING BRA ATTACHED IS ANOTHER PROJECT YOU'LL FIND ON MY BLOG HERE

My partner lives in IRELAND so I asked her if there is anything she would like me to add to her package - anything she had a hard time finding over there. Her favorite colors I found out was purple & red & she likes bling.

Instead of purchasing ribbon I purchased a cotton braided bracelet for the cause & turned it into a pull out page with a surprise (the bracelet in her favorite colors purple & red - the bracelet was a cancer awareness campain item I found @ a local shop in the mall) I also included some BLING & tucked it into the bracelet.  Looks like I forgot to take a pic of the bracelet.  I added small packs of  purple rhinestones & some red rhinestone flowers in two sizes. One of the floweres in probably 1 1/2" in diameter so that's some pretty good bling. I also added extra paper pages etc in red & purple for her taste.

I stamped off a bunch of fairies & other Irish themed stamps I have so she can use them in her cards. Just forgot to take a picture of that too!

I chose to included an extra little goodie in her friendship pages that was a project that I posted about previously HERE It's a large boc of  PINK TIC TACS that I made a little cover for.  I made a similar one using the smaller regular size TIC TACS @ a CHRISTMAS Craft Workshop I attended last year.

MINI CHRISTMAS ALBUM

I have been happily working on some handmade journals over the past few days.  I'm making all kinds including Christmas, but not exclusive.  I will show you some I have been working on in the next few posts here on my blog.  The ones I am making with BLACK GEL PEN PAPER are in limited supply as I am quickly running out of the gel pen paper.  It is a paper weight for drawing in gel pen, not black cardstock; so the paper is thin like computer/copy paper.

If you are interested in purchasing one/more they will be
FOR SALE
 in my
cathies pARTies
  ETSY online shop
If you beat me to it & you don't see them listed yet just leave me a note here in my comments.  Leave your email in the comment so I can contact you to see what you want.  I don't publish any comments that contain personal emails, so once I have your contact info your comment will be deleted.

EACH MINI CHRISTMAS ALBUM IS UNIQUE NO TWO ARE EXACTLY ALIKE
I have a slide show of my shop on the right side here on my blog too.
Go to the cathies pARTies shop.
Click on the image when you see it in the slide show.
Or
Click on the name of my shop & it will open up my shop.
You can see the other categories of my shop there.
Grab yourself a cuppa & do a little relaxed shopping.

  Have fun!

Here are some samples of the Mini Christmas Albums I'm making this year.
They are bound with wire using my Zutter Bind it All.
Love it!

^
This pic shows the outside cover of just a couple of them.

^
A couple of inside views.
The little frame on one of the pages I highlighted with gold embossing.
You can actualy slip a little pic into the top end of the frame.
Too Cute!

^
Another pair of inside pages.
The tied embellishments unfolds to reveal a spot for journaling or adding small pics.

The ends of pages are open little pockets to slide/insert tags for journaling or pics.
They are the perfect gift for a creative spirit just as they are, as I have left lots room for creative play
with stamps, various mixed mediums, stickers, embellishments etc.
Plus you can make the tags to slide into the ends.

BUY ONE AS A GIFT FOR YOURSELF TO RECORD SOME HOLIDAY MEMORIES!

CHRISTMAS MAKE & TAKES

Here are the rest of the MAKE & TAKES I made recently
@ a local scrapbook shops
 Christmas Open House.

This first pic is the ornament made with a snowflake style circle spellbinder die, rosette, glitter circle that can be punched or cut with a circle cutter or on your cricut.  The metal snowflake embellishments adds more sparkle with rhinestones on the tips.  We used a silver glitter wire for the hanger to finish.

The following pic is a card we made.  We added color with copics.  The sentiment pops off the background using 3D adhesive squares.  The finishing touch was using a glitter pen to add some sparkle to the card.

The last pic shows a CUTE little gift card holder.  A die & embossing folder set were used to make the card holder.  All the pieces were already cut embossed & ready to assemble, so I don't know the name of the set.  We added the ribbon & bell to finish.  Gift card was not included!  : (  LOL
I put one in the pic to show how you put it in the holder.  : )

Pretty SWEET little MAKE & TAKES!

GOT 4 MAKE & TAKES in one days WORK!
The HANDMADE CHRISTMAS ALBUM WAS THE FOURTH MAKE & TAKE.
It is featured here on my blog in the last post.
It was such a big project & had so many pics it needed it's own post!
 LOL
: )

Heres the link to the album:

MINI CHRISTMAS ALBUM

This is the MINI CHRISTMAS ALBUM I made @ a local scrapbooking store during their recent Christmas Open House with Make & Takes.

It was bound using the UNI BIND system.

Now that I have the book made, all I have to do is add pics, journaling spots, embellishments & do some technique work on the pages before I mount everything.

We were a little rushed for time so it turned out pretty good considering.
We were given a wad of patterned paper & told to choose a sheet for the front & back cover, inside front & inside back.
Then the remaining papers would be our pages.
I took the time to arrange the inside pages to a satisfactory extent.
Now that I see the overall view in these pics I would have liked page 2 to be on the facing side so the margin on the patterned paper would be lined up on the right side of the page like a school notebook instead on near the spine of the book.
I might have placed the red pages more strategically too if I had more time.
They look a little out of balance in places.
Oh well!
